On top of the nationwide opioid epidemic facing Iowa, much of the addiction and substance abuse in the State comes in the form of alcohol. This is combated by a comprehensive plan put forth by the Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy to teach young Iowans about the dangers of substance abuse early, and to offer second chances to those who are arrested for drug related activity. Fortunately for those who struggle with addiction, Iowa offers a wide array of treatment facilities to get people on the path to sobriety.
