The city of Riverside, California – along with the rest of the United States – is facing a drug epidemic. Because of the city’s location, it has become one of the largest centers of drug smuggling in the country. Unfortunately, Riverside residents are suffering the consequences – every year, rates of drug overdose deaths continue to rise.
Fortunately, the Riverside community has responded strongly to this problem by creating a multitude of fantastic addiction treatment rehabs in the city to help fight the epidemic. If you are battling an addiction in Riverside, help is out there waiting for you.
Best Rehab Centers in Riverside
10 Acre Ranch
The clear winner for best overall rehab in Riverside is 10 Acre Ranch. This incredible treatment center has been in service for 25 years, speaking to their credibility and experience. They offer a full continuum of recovery services, from detox to transitional housing, and their inpatient unit is pet-friendly. While traditionally, this rehab has served men only, they recently opened up an inpatient program for women, as well.
There are special “tracks” of treatment available at 10 Acre Ranch that are designed for specific populations. Their most notable are their Christian faith-based track and their treatment track for Native American patients called “Sacred Ground”. The Native American track uses traditional healing methods such as a medicine wheel and a sweat lodge.
MFI Recovery Center
MFI Recovery Center is another excellent option for addiction treatment for a wide variety of individuals. Their co-ed outpatient center in Riverside houses an intensive outpatient program (IOP) as well as psychiatric services, a day treatment program for women only, and a substance abuse and family therapy program specifically designed for adolescents.
In terms of inpatient options, MFI has a residential center for women with children, which is a fantastic resource for the community. Childcare is provided at this center, and the women are given the option of taking parenting classes. At their men’s residential center, you will find a stone fireplace and gorgeous outdoor area, with services like anger management classes. Best of all, this treatment center accepts Medi-Cal.
Everlast Recovery Center
Everlast Recovery Center is primarily a detox unit, but you can extend your stay for up to 90 days if you’re looking for inpatient treatment as well. Here, you can detox off of drugs and alcohol without feeling like you’re in a hospital; their rehab is comfortable and home-like, and you’ll feel like you’re in your own living room.
If you decide to stay in treatment after your detox period ends, you’ll be treated to excellent-quality care that combines both traditional and more holistic methods. Of course, you’ll receive individual and group therapy, but clients here also engage in activities like yoga, meditation, life skills classes, and journaling.
A Peace of Mind Sober Living
A Peace of Mind runs the best sober living facilities in Riverside. They have one women’s home and one men’s home, both in expansive, multi-bedroom houses with comfortable (but simple) amenities, like high-speed internet. Although there are no frills attached to these residences, it’s an excellent option if what you’re looking for is a safe, clean place to stay while you work on your recovery.
These living facilities can help those who don’t have many financial resources, as well; they can supply residents with bus passes, as well as food and toiletries if you’re in need of them. It also doesn’t seem like being currently employed or attending school is absolutely mandatory for staying here, unlike many sober living facilities; you will, however, need to attend more meetings if you’re not employed.
Promising Outlook
Promising Outlook offers the best outpatient option for rehab in the Riverside area. Their intensive outpatient program operates on a stepdown model, and each patient graduates to a lower-intensity level of care as they make progress in their recovery journey. The IOP uses evidence-based practices to help people make strides towards a sober life.
On top of their substance abuse program, Promising Outlook also offers domestic violence and anger management classes on an outpatient basis for those who need it. Overall, this is a fantastic rehab option for those who don’t have the time or finances to attend inpatient care.
South California Road to Recovery
Although SoCal Road to Recovery offers many services from detox to intensive outpatient, what they really do best is medication-assisted treatment. Medication-assisted treatment can be a safe and effective choice of treatment for those suffering with opioid addiction, to drugs like heroin or Xanax.
There is a large range of medications offered at this rehab to help you kick your cravings (especially if you’re battling an opioid addiction), from Suboxone to Zubsolv to Naltrexone. They can help you with maintenance on these drugs or to slowly taper off of them. They don’t, however, prescribe methadone; if that’s what you’re looking for, you can find it at Evexia Health Services.
Whiteside Manor
Whiteside Manor is one of the oldest addiction rehabs in Riverside, having been established in 1971. It is a non-profit organization that has been serving the Riverside recovery community for decades; what this means for you is that they accept Medi-Cal, and that they’re likely to be more committed to helping you than turning a profit.
Although this rehab isn’t pet-friendly, you won’t be completely without the love of a furry friend during your stay here: the treatment team uses pet therapy with their adorable resident dogs. This rehab also has programming specifically for Riverside’s considerable Native American community, and works with leaders of the community to serve as culturally relevant sponsors to their Native American clients. If you identify as Native American, you can also check out 10 Acre Ranch for another option for culturally-tailored care.
Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center
This rehab is known to be of excellent caliber because they are associated with the local university’s behavioral medicine center. That means that you’ll be able to address all your mental health needs under one roof, and the medical staff that will be working with you on recovering from your addiction is world-class.
A specialized program that this hospital runs is their chronic pain program, which helps people who’ve found that their chronic pain condition has led to (or exacerbated) their addiction. If you find that you want some extra support after you leave treatment, their alumni association also runs a network of sober living homes in the area.
Evexia Health Services
The best clinic that focuses solely on detox in the Riverside area is operated by Evexia Health Services; they have two clinics in Riverside county. Like most MAT clinics, they use methadone and buprenorphine to help people get through their opioid cravings and withdrawal symptoms. If you’re struggling with breaking an opioid addiction, then you may want to consider receiving this treatment at Evexia.
On top of administering medication, these clinics also offer their patients case management services to refer them to community resources. You’ll also find professional development services as well as peer support here. Overall, these are wonderful clinics for people wanting to walk away from their opioid addiction once and for all.
The High Road Program
The High Road Program helps people who’ve had a run-in with the law due to their drug or alcohol addiction. Whether or not you’ve been mandated by a court to seek services, High Road is there for you. On top of regular outpatient substance abuse counseling, they offer services like DUI counseling, drug testing, and specialized services for people on parole.
On top of addiction services, The High Road Program can also help with other legal charges that might be associated with your addiction. For example, they have counseling for domestic violence and anger management. All of this is offered for an incredibly affordable fee.
Riverside Recovery Resources
This rehab in Riverside county is your best option for outpatient care. Their 16-week intensive outpatient program requires a commitment of at least 90 days; you’ll be attending treatment for 6 days a week, but the hours required of you (between 6 and 30) each week will depend on your needs. They can provide you with a certificate of completion for your place of employment if you see it through.
The IOP uses the evidence-based Matrix Model as a format for their treatment. On top of their IOP, Riverside Recovery also offers outpatient DUI classes as well as a regular (non-intensive) outpatient program, which requires up to 9 hours a week of treatment.
Cedar House Life Change Center
This non-profit organization has operated multiple recovery homes in the Riverside area since 1973, making it one of the most well-established rehabs on this list. In their main facility, they have an impressive 142 beds for people of all genders to get help for their addiction.
In addition to their main facility, they have a home for women with children (called the Maple House), a DUI program, and a facility for transitional-aged youth called the Oasis House. They accept Medi-Cal (and can help you find out if you’re eligible); if you’re ineligible, their private pay fee is calculated on a generous sliding scale.
Full Circle Recovery
If you’re looking for Christian faith-based treatment, then Full Circle Recovery provides the most affordable option in the Riverside area. They accept private insurance, but also have financing plans and options available for you for out-of-pocket costs to make treatment with them as low-cost as possible.
This recovery center also prides itself on being qualified to work with dual diagnosis conditions. If you’re a person-of-faith who’s looking for quality, evidence-based care for your addiction and mental health, then this is the perfect outpatient rehab for you. If you want to live in a sober and Christian environment while attending programs elsewhere, then you may want to look into A Peace of Mind Sober Living.
Sunrise Recovery Ranch
At Sunrise Recovery Ranch, you’ll find one of the few rehabs with an in-house medical detox. Detox is an important part of your recovery, and it’s crucial that you receive medical supervision during this process to make sure you’re doing it safely. After you finish with detox, you can transition seamlessly into the residential program at this rehab, saving you the headache of moving locations.
The binary genders are provided with separate treatment here, focusing on different issues that may have led to addiction. All of their services, for both men and women, are housed in a beautiful, serene ranch with a pool.
Breaking Free of Addiction
Breaking Free of Addiction is the name of an outpatient recovery coaching service provided by Christy Lennox-Brock, an addiction counselor (certified as SAP, CCAPP, and CADC-II). Having a recovery coach can be a great addition to your treatment team, guiding you through your rehab options and making sure you always have someone to keep you accountable.
Christy can refer you to detox and inpatient options for treatment if you find that a recovery coach isn’t enough to keep you sober. Interestingly, she’s also qualified to use equine therapy. If you love horses, Providence Recovery might be another rehab option to look into.
Riverside County Substance Abuse Program
The county of Riverside offers excellent options for addiction treatment, including detox services, inpatient units, and outpatient counseling. They even offer medication-assisted treatment out of some of their clinics, although it’s unclear if they prescribe methadone or other medications. Some other interesting programs the county runs are ‘Friday Night Live” sober events for youth and individual prevention services if you’re worried that your or a loved one’s substance use is getting out of hand.
Since there are so many options and programs available through the county, it’s best to just give them a call and see what might be the most appropriate. There are Spanish-speaking staff members at each location, and they are sure to be able to find the service that is the best fit for your needs.
Benchmark Transitions
Young people facing addiction and substance abuse need developmentally appropriate and age-specific treatment to help them recover. Most rehabs accept any adult over the age of 18, but very few offer services that are unique to the young adult population. That makes Benchmark Transitions very special; it’s a rehab that caters solely to young adults between the ages of 18 and 28.
Benchmark is both an addiction treatment program and an alternative school; they offer high school, college, and vocational programs for all of their clients. There is one treatment center for young men, and another for young women; the men’s center is located on a 52-acre ranch, and the women’s has extraordinary views of the surroundings.
Daylight Recovery Services
This recovery center offers a full spectrum of treatment types, but it seems that they’re most specialized in providing inpatient treatment. Their residential program is located in a comfortable private home, and uses only evidence-based treatment methods. They can work with any type of addiction, including to prescription drugs.
The facilities border on luxurious, with private and semi-private rooms that have private televisions and full-size beds. Residents are also treated to three meals a day prepared by the private chef, and have access to 2 pools, jacuzzis, and a beautiful outdoor lounge.
Inland Valley Recovery Services
This affordable rehab is operated by a non-profit organization that has been in service since 1962, making it one of the longest-running rehabs on this list. Since then, they’ve helped over 5000 people per year recover from their drug and alcohol addictions. Surely, that partly has to do with how affordable their services are; they accept both private insurance and Medi-Cal, and their fee for some services are on a sliding scale.
Some of their specialized services include programs for Spanish-speakers, programs for at-risk youth, and a day treatment program for pregnant women. Something we’re really impressed with is that they invite men and women to attend treatment at some facilities with their children.
Providence Recovery
Providence Recovery is all about two things: Jesus and horses. This equine center serves women who are battling addiction, and they believe in the healing powers of both horses and God. Their horses come from the nearby Providence Heart Ranch, which is associated with this rehab.
Bible study is a part of treatment here, but the staff also uses more traditional and evidence-based techniques such as CBT. If you are a Christian person battling addiction who happens to love horses, then this is a unique rehab just for you. For people-of-faith who aren’t particularly into horses, you might try Full Circle Recovery.
